Equipment and Materials Operator, Senior
City:
West Lafayette
Operate heavy equipment in support of University department projects, gravel pit operations, and utility repairs. Perform duties related to the maintenance, construction, and repair of campus streets, roads, parking lots, and parking garages. Assist with campus street signage and pavement markings. Support snow removal operations for campus streets, roads, parking lots, parking garages, and airport facilities.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 4+ years of relevant work experience operating heavy equipment required (i.e., backhoe, bulldozer, 1 1/2 ton trucks, front end loader, etc.)
Skills Needed
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class
B) within 90 days of hire - Ability to maintain CDL eligibility, including successful completion of required medical examinations
- Ability to obtain Competent Person Certification for excavations
- Ability to obtain FAA Certification in Airport Safety and Snow Removal
- Strong leadership and verbal communication skills
- Ability to provide verbal and written instructions
- Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and schematics
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures for heavy equipment
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds frequently
- Ability to climb in and out of equipment multiple times daily
- Ability to work outdoors 90% or more of the time in all weather conditions
- Position requires manual dexterity, coordination, prolonged sitting during equipment operation, and strong visual concentration
- Knowledge of campus buildings and locations preferred
