Tipmont seeks a Fiber Construction Crew Member to support fiber network expansion across west-central Indiana. In this field-based role, you'll help install and maintain fiber optic cable, operate construction equipment, and support trenching, boring, and restoration work. You'll work outdoors in a safety-first, team-oriented environment, reading plans and following work orders to build reliable broadband infrastructure. As part of a community-focused cooperative, you'll help deliver essential connectivity while gaining hands-on experience and opportunities for growth in utilities and telecom construction.
Responsibilities
- Install and maintain fiber optic cable for broadband network builds
- Operate and assist with construction equipment in utility and right-of-way areas
- Follow maps, plans, and work orders to place and route fiber infrastructure
- Perform trenching, boring, pulling, splicing support, and site restoration tasks
- Adhere to strict safety procedures and use required PPE at all times
- Inspect work sites, identify hazards, and maintain clean, organized work areas
- Collaborate with crew members, foreman, and supervisors to meet project deadlines
- Document work performed and report issues, damage, or delays promptly
- Assist with locating utilities and protecting existing underground infrastructure
- Work outdoors in varying weather and occasionally after-hours or on-call
