Under general supervision and in collaboration with other members of the health care team, uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing, and evaluating nursing care for patients and coordinating nurses' care activities with other health care disciplines.

• Assessment
  : performs standard evaluations of biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self‑care, education needs, and discharge planning. Coordinates patient assessment with hospital and community agencies.
• Planning
  : develops an individualized nursing plan of care sensitive to the patient's developmental needs, coordinates discharge planning and patient teaching, documents plans, delegates activities appropriately, and establishes priorities.
• Implementation
  : initiates appropriate measures based on protocols for medical/surgical care, follows physician plans, accurately documents in the EMR, follows policy and procedure, and initiates emergency actions as needed.
• Evaluation
  : evaluates assessment methods, plan of care, and patient responses to treatment; participates in unit quality assurance activities.
• Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience.

• One (1) year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the ED.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse License (Oregon).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire OR Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 6 months of hire.
• Computer keyboarding skills.
• Previous health care experience.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field.
• A desire and ability to function within the nursing process preferred.
