Position: School Psychologist Specialist 2026-2027 SY

School Psychologist Specialist – Special Education Department

Possesses knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulation, and policies regarding children's special education eligibility and programming.

Manages, monitors, and facilitates the work responsibilities for departmental school psychologists.

Selects and administers age appropriate assessment methods and materials in order to determine the needs of the student.

Interprets assessment results and compiles comprehensive psychological assessment reports that address the reason for referral and include appropriate recommendations.

Participates in eligibility committee meetings and contributes to the development of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Participates in other pertinent meetings at various schools assigned, as needed.

Serve as a resource to teachers and staff regarding psychological services and the academic/psychological needs of students.

Provides in-service training and workshops for teachers and staff regarding students with disabilities and proper procedures for the identification and referral of students.

Ensure compliance of testing regulations that apply to school based psychological testing services.

Consult with residential facility and private schools for SPED related testing services.

Conduct behavioral classroom/school observations.

Assist in designing a behavior management plan as an intervention.

Work with parents, teachers and administrators to develop strategies to address learning and behavior difficulties.

Prepare timely reports to maintain timelines for paperwork completion and conferences.

Keeps abreast of developments and research in the field of school psychology and shares with colleagues.

Other duties as assigned

Must hold a valid teaching certificate and necessary credentials for a State approved Psychological Examiner License or School Psychology Specialist, or Licensed Professional Examiner.

Experience in conducting and interpreting evaluations and behavior modification development and producing written evaluation reports.

Have knowledge of current research, changes, and trends to facilitate positive behavior support.

Must display excellent people skills.
