Job Description

This role focuses on quality assurance and quality control auditing of structured cabling and telecom installations within data centres. You will review completed work rather than perform installations, ensuring that all cabling, equipment and rack layouts meet industry, manufacturer and internal standards. The position requires a detail-oriented professional who can think like an auditor, identify risks and non-conformities, and clearly document and communicate findings to support continuous improvement in quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

+ Perform daily QA/QC inspections and observations on assigned data centre sites, focusing on telecom equipment, copper and fibre cabling, rack layouts and cable dressing.

+ Audit telecom installations to verify that equipment and cabling are installed correctly, tested, dressed properly and functioning as designed.

+ Conduct quality verification of pre-terminated cables, rack dressing and layout standards, as well as fibre and copper cabling concepts.

+ Identify deviations from quality standards, non-conformities, potential risks and areas for improvement during inspections.

+ Document all findings clearly and accurately, including non-conformities and risks, in line with QA/QC checklists and documentation requirements.

+ Maintain accurate, organised records of all inspection activities, findings and follow-up actions.

+ Prepare and distribute clear, professional inspection reports and documentation to managers, site supervisors and other relevant stakeholders.

+ Work closely with your manager to recommend corrective actions, enhancements to quality standards and improvements in efficiency.

+ Assist, where applicable, in training employees on quality standards, best practices and compliance expectations.

+ Stay current with industry, manufacturing and internal standards, as well as local, state and national codes, and adjust quality practices accordingly.

+ Demonstrate strong customer service skills and communicate findings clearly and professionally on job sites.

+ Think critically and analytically as an auditor, rather than as an installer, to identify issues and determine what compliant, high-quality work should look like.

+ Support the wider team by being willing to assist with installation work if quality auditing volume temporarily decreases, while maintaining a primary focus on QA/QC activities.

+ Manage your time effectively to meet production-driven schedules and complete audits within required time frames.

+ Travel to different sites as required to perform inspections and support quality initiatives.

Essential Skills

+ Minimum of 2 years' experience in structured cabling.

+ Demonstrated familiarity with quality assurance and quality control processes.

+ Strong understanding of industry and manufacturer standards for cable infrastructure and proper installation practices.

+ Knowledge of data centre and structured cabling environments, including pre-terminated cables, rack dressing and layout standards, and fibre and copper cabling concepts.

+ Ability to interpret and work to standards such as BICSI, OEM specifications, data centre standards and TIA where applicable.

+ Proven QA/QC auditing and inspection mindset, with the ability to think like an auditor rather than an installer.

+ Exceptional attention to detail and strong focus on standards compliance.

+ Clear documentation and reporting skills, including the ability to produce structured inspection reports and maintain organised records.

+ Professional communication skills on job sites, with the ability to communicate findings clearly and respectfully to various stakeholders.

+ Independent, self-managed work style, with the ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards.

+ Strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow.

+ Good customer skills and the ability to act as a collaborative team player.

+ Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.

+ Excellent time management, public speaking, problem-solving and both verbal and written communication skills.

+ Comfort with identifying risks and non-conformities and escalating them appropriately.

+ Ability and willingness to travel as required for site audits.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience working in data centres or similar technical environments.

+ Outside-of-data-centre experience such as CAT5/6 installations, fibre termination or telecom work, provided core fundamentals are strong.
