Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician installs, repairs, and maintains a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and process equipment within an industrial plant environment. This role focuses on piping systems, pumps, burners, lifting equipment, and PLC-based controls, ensuring reliable and safe operation of all plant assets through proactive maintenance and effective troubleshooting.
Responsibilities- Fabricate, install, repair, and maintain a variety of piping systems—including stainless steel, galvanized, CPVC, lined steel, and FRP—in accordance with plant specifications and standards.
- Perform repair and maintenance on evaporator burners and blowers, using knowledge of natural gas heating systems and burner operation to troubleshoot issues and complete minor repairs or component replacements.
- Troubleshoot general industrial equipment such as inductive motors and photo-eyes to identify faults and restore proper operation.
- Use volt meters and other electrical testing instruments to diagnose electrical and control issues on plant equipment.
- Maintain all plant equipment by applying predictive maintenance (PdM), preventive maintenance (PM), and other established maintenance strategies.
- Repair and maintain pumps, including troubleshooting performance problems, rebuilding components, and performing shaft and motor alignments.
- Install bearings, seals, gears, chains, sprockets, and other mechanical power-transmission components to support reliable equipment operation.
- Troubleshoot, repair, or replace block valves, control valves, solenoid valves, valve positioners, and pneumatic actuators to ensure proper flow and control in process systems.
- Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and other plant vehicles safely and efficiently to move materials and access equipment.
- Maintain and repair lifting equipment such as cranes, hoists, and rigging systems, ensuring safe and reliable handling of heavy loads.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment specifications to plan and execute maintenance and installation work accurately.
- Apply proper lockout-tagout procedures and energy-isolation techniques to protect personnel and equipment during maintenance activities.
- Proficiently operate shop tools including drills, saws, grinders, and related equipment to support fabrication and repair tasks.
- Design and fabricate metal structures such as pipe supports and conduit stands, using measuring, cutting (saws, cutoff wheels, torches, plasma cutters), drilling, bolting, and welding (arc and MIG).
- Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-based control circuits and plant instrumentation, including systems using RSLogix 5000.
- Demonstrate consistent adherence to safe work practices and follow all plant safety policies and procedures.
- Analyze equipment and process problems, develop effective solutions, and communicate clearly with team members and other stakeholders.
- Perform tasks involving heavy lifting and safe handling of materials and equipment as required by plant operations.
- Hands-on experience in industrial maintenance as a maintenance technician, working with mechanical, electrical, and process equipment.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to use volt meters and other electrical testing instruments safely and effectively.
- Proficiency in mechanical systems maintenance, including pumps, inductive motors, bearings, seals, gears, chains, sprockets, and other power-transmission components.
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic actuators and control valves.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain PLC-based control circuits and plant instrumentation, including RSLogix 5000.
- Competence in welding (arc and MIG) and metal fabrication for supports, stands, and related structures.
- Experience working with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and associated motor control equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment specifications accurately.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of lockout-tagout procedures and energy isolation techniques.
