Operations Manager (Shredder Manager)
About the OpportunityA leading industrial services provider supporting major steel manufacturing operations is seeking an experienced Shredder Operations Manager to join its team. This organization delivers essential on‑site services, innovative technology, and operational expertise that help improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact across steel production facilities. This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast‑paced industrial environment and is passionate about safety, performance, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the operation of a large‑scale metal shredder and downstream separation systems
- Lead and supervise a team of approximately 12 union employees, ensuring productivity and safety
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with maintenance, operations, and site leadership to meet performance goals
- Identify, document, and resolve safety, maintenance, and operational issues
- Manage parts inventory, budgeting, and capital improvement projects
- Support maintenance planning and coordinate equipment upkeep to minimize downtime
- Participate in site leadership meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- 5–7 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP systems
- Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills, including basic statistical analysis
