  • Job Overview:

    This position reports to the Environmental, Safety, Health, Quality, and Training Manager in support of APTIM's nuclear decommissioning (D&D) project in West Mifflin, PA. Engineers will be a part of a multi-disciplined team supporting our projects and will be focused on supporting safety activities on site.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

    The Safety Professional will be responsible for the implementation of EHS policies and procedures
    Ability to interpret and apply OSHA standards EHS surveys and audits, maintain EHS documentation
    Collect and analyze EHS metrics
    Conduct accident investigations, participate in the safety committee.
    Provide safety field oversight of production personnel involved in radiological and RCRA D&D activities.

    Basic Qualifications:

    The position requires a minimum of eight years of safety and industrial hygiene experience with a Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial engineering or related field of study required, and working knowledge of OSHA Construction Industry standards.
    CSP, CIH, CHMM or equivalent certification preferred.
    Experience in the fields of construction, demolition, remediation, asbestos abatement, lead abatement, lifting & rigging, ergonomics, noise, scaffolding, air monitoring and industrial hygiene equipment Prior shipyard, DOE, or Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program experience strongly preferred
    Experience in radiological and environmental decontamination and decommissioning fields a plus
    Must be a US Citizen; no dual citizenship
    Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Level L Security Clearance
    Must be able to obtain and maintain radiological qualifications Ability to lift 50 pounds
    Ability to pass and maintain a medical clearance for entry into radiological areas. Occasional overtime and travel may be required (infrequent)

    As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $110,000-$150,000
    . Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
