Full-time Onsite EHS Engineer – West Mifflin, PA

We are looking for a full-time onsite EHS Engineer in West Mifflin, PA (Pittsburgh area).

Your future role

As an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer, you will provide a safe and healthy environment for our people and contractors during construction sites and projects. Your work will help minimize environmental impacts, protect Alstom assets, and reduce risks of business interruption from fire and natural catastrophes. You will collaborate with construction, operations, and compliance teams, deliver EHS training programs, and ensure adherence to Alstom and international standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Site EHS Manager in performing risk assessments and defining control measures.
  • Prepare, implement, and maintain emergency plans.
  • Deliver support and advice to site personnel to prevent injury, damage, fire, and environmental pollution.
  • Respond to violations of regulations and Alstom Standards.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain local procedures and tools aligned with Alstom and ISO standards.
  • Ensure Alstom EHS standards and tools (AZDP, TOPE, Transport Key processes) are deployed at the site level.
  • Perform EHS legal compliance checks for specific requirements.
  • Coach employees to work safely and in an environment‑friendly manner.
  • Lead site EHS training programs, provide inductions, and organize toolbox meetings.
  • Capture, report, record, investigate, and analyze accidents/incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare monthly EHS reports.
  • Conduct inspections of work areas, perform audits, and report discrepancies.
Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or Engineering preferred).

  • At least 2 years of professional experience related to Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Experience conducting EHS audits and inspections.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Health and Safety Certification.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Understanding of local legal EHS requirements.
  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, rail, or transportation.
