The Performance Lead assists with ensuring that all costumed events are successfully executed to deliver outstanding guest satisfaction. This position focuses on leading and directing team members to provide scary and realistic character performances that meet the set standards and intent of the event.
Responsibilities- Supervisory Duties: Lead and motivate a team of scare actors; act as an approachable mentor; ensure compliance with company and industry best practices; participate in training activities; comply with labor laws; assist with scheduling; provide backfill for performance-related positions.
- Departmental Duties: Delight guests with exceptional service; monitor team during performance; train scare actors in acting techniques; perform as a scare actor maintaining character throughout shifts; use props or noise makers; interact with guests professionally; minimize escalation of scared guests; keep safe environment; monitor event for hazards; report issues to authorities.
- No education required; passion for scaring.
- 1+ year of previous haunt experience preferred.
- Pass audition or character training.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Flexible schedule—evenings, weekends, holidays including Halloween.
- Available for 20+ hours per week.
- Reliable transportation.
- Compliance with grooming, uniform, costume standards.
- Remain in character throughout performance.
- Strong cardio endurance and performance energy.
- Playful, outgoing, friendly, guest‑centric attitude.
- Effective verbal and non‑verbal communication.
- Follow direction, multi‑task, fast‑paced team work.
- Stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of day.
- Wear costume for extended periods.
- Frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach.
- Perform in limited sightlines.
- Carry, push, pull, lift, hold objects up to 30 pounds or more.
- Frequent exposure to outdoor and indoor areas of the park.
- Extreme warm or cold temperatures during autumn.
- Variable weather: heat, cold, sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice.
- Frequent interruptions, high noise levels, flashing lights, strobe lights, dark environments, heavily populated areas.
- Flexible schedule.
