United States Steel Corporation is looking for qualified interns to join our Accounting team at our Mon Valley Works in Pittsburgh, PA. Accounting is a core component of our business and key to our success as one of the world's largest steel producers. The Accounting organization ensures financial compliance, manages global financial results for external reporting, and provides financial statistics to U.
S. Steel's executive team to aid in strategic business decisions. This position will enhance your knowledge and understanding of the accounting field and the relationship between our operations and financial performance.
We seek interns who can participate in various stages of the finance and accounting process along with special assignments. The individuals will not only gain intimate knowledge of accounting processes but also gain networking exposure with individuals throughout the corporation. We will provide tours of our operations to provide a basic understanding of what we do along with several social events with your peers.
This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of Accounting and Finance.
Responsibilities:
* Internship assignments shadow the experience and responsibilities of various professionals to ascertain their interest in finance and accounting functions.
* The position will support various plant accounting and controllership activities, while interacting with various levels within the organization.
* Participants will also interact with various departments and management to demonstrate their communication skills.
* Assignments are aimed at being challenging and rewarding.

Requirements:
* Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree.
* Educational Majors:
Accounting, Finance, Business preferred. Other majors considered will be Economics, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, or related.
* Be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
* Strong communication skills
* Negotiation skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office, especially Excel
* Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
* Creative and Flexible.

Peer Coach:
The new interns will be assigned to a particular Plant Accounting area and a peer coach assigned to the intern to shadow.
