We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Material Handler to join our team at TMS International, LLC in West Mifflin, PA. As a Material Handler, you will play a crucial role in the movement, organization, and storage of raw materials and finished steel products throughout the facility. This position requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to operate heavy machinery, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Pay: $30.53 per hour plus shift differential of $1.00 per hour for afternoons and $1.50 per hour for overnights

Schedule:

2 nd and 3 rd shift

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment to transport materials and products within the steel mill.
  • Load and unload raw materials such as steel coils, billets, and scrap from trucks and railcars.
  • Ensure materials are stored properly in designated areas to prevent damage and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Assist in inventory management, including tracking material usage and reporting shortages or discrepancies.
  • Perform routine inspections of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to promote a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate material movement and production schedules.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or industrial settings is preferred.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment safely (certifications a plus).
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and procedures in an industrial environment.
  • Ability perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and often noisy environment.
  • Must be able to successfully complete all pre-employment screenings
  • Medical, Dental and Vision after 90 days of employment
  • Paid Time off - Personal Days and Holidays
  • 5 personal days after 5 months and 2 weeks of vacation after a year
