Kennywood - Security Intern

Roles & Responsibilities :

Do you perform well under pressure and during high-stress situations? Are you at least 18 years old? Are you currently in college, working toward a major in Criminal Justice or a related discipline? Do you enjoy creating a safe environment and engaging with guests in a positive and friendly manner? If you answered yes to these questions, you might just be the perfect addition to our security team!

Security Interns are responsible for helping to maintain a safe environment for guests and employees. The perfect candidate should have an eye for detail, a knack for problem-solving, and an ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

This position will help the incumbent gain valuable skills and experience toward a rewarding career in the criminal justice field, while also having the opportunity to enjoy a fun and exciting place to work!

Job

Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversee physical safety and security of the organization’s facilities/property and people – Team Members, vendors, contractors, shippers, and visitors.

Participate in assigned projects that will improve efficiencies and or security processes evaluate current state practices and recommend process improvements, where needed

Manage and report on security incidents and threats.

Support the Security team by performing a variety of departmental duties, as needed

Oversee and report on security checks/surveillance/monitoring.

Authorize access to facilities and ensure that access is controlled.

Assist with scheduling and timekeeping activities for security team members.

Maintain and review security records periodically report on trends, anomalies, and concerns.

All other duties as assigned by leadership.

Education and Experience:

High School diploma, GED, or equivalent

Currently enrolled (or recent graduate) of a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Health & Safety, Emergency Management, or related discipline is required1+ year of previous security or related experience highly desired

Language:
Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.

Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Pennsylvania Child Labor Laws Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Must have reliable transportation to and from your scheduled shift

Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record

Ability to safely and efficiently operate motorized vehicles and equipment

Ability to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions

Ability to apply knowledge of security methods, procedures, interviewing, listening, and note-taking techniques for specific situations

Ability to deal fairly, objectively, and courteously with the public without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, or political beliefs
