OverviewStaffmark is hiring a Construction Accountant in West Monroe for someone who knows the numbers, keeps the books tight, and gets it done accurately.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Three or more years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, project-based, or contractor accounting.
- Strong knowledge of job costing, Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting, percentage-of-completion accounting, retainage, and project financial reporting.
- Experience with construction accounting software such as Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, Quick Books, or similar ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and data analysis.
- Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll allocations, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Knowledge of subcontractor management, vendor contracts, lien waivers, sales and use tax, payroll tax, and construction compliance.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple construction projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and executive leadership.
- Manage job cost accounting for multiple commercial and residential construction projects.
- Track project expenses, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead costs.
- Prepare monthly job cost reports, Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, and project profitability analyses.
- Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including subcontractor invoices and customer payments.
- Prepare and submit progress billings, change orders, retainage billings, and lien waiver documentation.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and assist with month‑end and year‑end financial close processes.
- Monitor project contracts to ensure billing aligns with contract terms, milestones, and budgets.
- Support construction payroll processing and allocate labor costs to specific projects.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, insurance requirements, contractual obligations, and construction accounting standards.
- Partner with project managers and leadership to analyze project costs, identify cost overruns, forecast expenses, and improve profitability.
