Position: Veterans Assistance Manager (Northeast Region)

We do this by connecting them to the benefits they’ve earned, providing dedicated support, and enhancing their quality of life through compassionate service across the state.

We’re looking for a Veterans Assistance Manager to join our team. The Veterans Assistance Manager for the northeast region manages all parish Veterans' Contact Assistance programs in the region assigned, has direct subordinates, and receives direct supervision from the Deputy Assistance Secretary for Contact Assistance.

Experience Requirements:
  • Seven years of experience in veterans service work, administrative services, or social services.
  • Six years of full-time experience in any field plus four years of experience in veterans service work, administrative services, or social services.
  • A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in veterans service work, administrative services, or social services.
  • A master’s degree plus three years of experience in veterans service work, administrative services, or social services.
Experience Substitution:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

NOTE:

Incumbent may be required to provide a DD‑214 as evidence of being an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Armed Forces who served on an active, full‑time basis.

Job Duties:

As a Veterans Assistance Manager, you'll help create a positive experience for every person who walks through our doors. In this role, you will:

  • Supervise all employees of the veterans contact assistance program in a region of the state, the New Orleans Claims Office, or administer the State's Veterans Assistance Programs.
  • Administer the State Educational Assistance Program, the State Military Bonus Program, and other applicable Veterans Assistance programs by establishing, verifying applicant eligibility and processing to completion.
