The Opportunity

Wilmington Paper is seeking a full-time Forklift Operator to join our growing facility in West Monroe, LA. The Forklift Operator will be responsible for operating a forklift or skid steer in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining the production floor to maximize safe production.

This position will support equipment operations during a work shift and you must be able to work rotating 8-hour shifts, with occasional extended or weekend hours REQUIRED. Shift times are 6 am to 2 pm, 2pm to 10 pm & 10 pm to 6 am. Shifts rotate every two weeks.

  • Perform pre and post trip inspectionsofequipment
  • Safely Load/unload material from trailers
  • Ensure correct quality of material that ishandled
  • Ensure accuracy and recording ofweights
  • Implementing all plant safety procedures (e.g. use gladhand locks when entering trailers)
  • General planthousekeeping
  • Report equipment issues to supervisor/maintenance staff
What you need to succeed
  • High School Diploma or GED OR equivalent required
  • 2+ years’ experience operating a skid steer and/or forklift, preferably in an industrial or Recycling facility
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • A valid driver’s license preferred.

  • Ensure that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner
  • Ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise
  • Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules
  • Promotes and upholds the Company’s safety standards
  • Ability to operate equipment properly and safely.
  • Strict adherence to OSHA and company policies.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficient operation of forklift and skid steer
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
