Location West Monroe, LA
Salary: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
Shift: 8 AM - 5 PM

This Transportation Specialist role is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations while serving as a key liaison between internal teams and customers. This role combines transportation sales support, route planning, project coordination, and operational leadership. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, disciplined, and proactive-someone who takes ownership of challenges, continuously improves processes, and helps drive the company toward best-in-class transportation performance.

  • Proven experience in transportation management, logistics, or route operations
  • Strong understanding of routing, scheduling, and transportation planning
  • Experience interacting with customers and supporting sales efforts
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work independently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with transportation systems, routing tools, and Microsoft Office (or similar software)
  • Experience in project-based or service-oriented transportation environments (preferred)
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance (preferred)
  • Background in continuous improvement or operational excellence initiatives (preferred)

Key Responsibilities: Transportation Operations & Route Management
  • Plan, develop, and manage transportation routes to ensure efficiency, safety, and on-time delivery
  • Generate and conduct route surveys to evaluate feasibility, cost, timing, and resource needs
  • Oversee daily route execution and make real-time adjustments as needed
  • Coordinate closely with drivers, dispatch, and operations teams
  • Monitor performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve service and efficiency
Sales & Customer Interaction
  • Work directly with customers to support transportation sales and service solutions
  • Collaborate with sales teams to scope transportation needs and provide operational input
  • Assist with pricing, route feasibility, and service planning
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for customer transportation-related questions or issues
  • Build strong, long-term customer relationships through reliability and responsiveness
Project Planning & Coordination
  • Support project planning by providing transportation insight, timelines, and logistical requirements
  • Assist in coordinating transportation needs for new customers, expansions, or special projects
  • Ensure transportation plans align with overall project goals and deadlines
  • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders throughout project execution
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
  • Troubleshoot transportation challenges as they arise, minimizing service disruptions
  • Analyze issues and conduct post-project or post-incident reviews ("lessons learned")
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
  • Promote a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Interact daily with drivers, operations staff, sales, and management teams
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure team alignment and performance expectations are met
  • Foster strong communication and collaboration across departments
  • Lead by example with professionalism, discipline, and a solution-oriented mindset
