Assistant Director – Grade School Programs and Exploration Camp

If making an impact on the lives of grade school-aged children and their families appeals to you, JCC Metro West is seeking a mindful, collaborative, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills to be our new Assistant Director for Grade School Programs and Exploration Camp. The Assistant Director supports the daily operations of JCC Metro West’s Kids Club (after-school program), Exploration Camp (summer program), and Vacation Program (when school is closed).

Reporting to the Director, this role provides high-level administrative, operational, and customer service support while collaborating closely with staff, families, schools, and internal departments. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to creating a positive experience for children and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain state licensing and compliance requirements for staff and students
  • Oversee daily staff scheduling to ensure appropriate ratios and transportation coverage
  • Manage calendars for school-year and summer programs, including holidays and special events
  • Serve as a primary communication liaison with parents, schools, boards of education, and JCC departments
  • Maintain participant and staff records in databases (Spectrum, Camp Minder, File Maker)
  • Order supplies, snacks, and program materials
  • Support classroom and behavioral needs; attend disciplinary meetings as a secondary staff representative
  • Assist with bus pick-ups, classroom coverage, opening/closing duties, and special events
  • Coordinate vacation program days when children are off of school
  • Coordinate space usage, room setup, attendance tracking, and occasional payroll submissions
  • Complete required professional development and state-mandated training
Skills required
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn new software and systems
Required Qualifications
  • College degree and/or 2+ years of relevant administrative or youth program experience
  • Flexibility for occasional evenings, off-hours, and hands-on program support
