Job Description
Assist physicians, nurses, and physician assistants with clerical duties, patient flow, and scheduling for hospital and ambulatory admissions. Manage diagnostic test orders, coordinate pre‑admission testing and consent, and maintain accurate documentation in the EHR and PMS.
Responsibilities- Schedule and enter diagnostic tests and procedures into the orders management system following all workflows.
- Coordinate required testing prior to admission and ensure all consents are on site.
- Arrange and distribute the surgery schedule accurately.
- Complete all necessary forms for patients and document vital signs (BP, temperature, pulse, height, weight) accurately.
- Review and update medication lists, noting known allergies in the EHR.
- Demonstrate understanding of prescription control and refill procedures.
- Enter orders and schedule appointments in the Practice Management System and EHR.
- Provide referrals and consult orders in a timely manner.
- Adhere to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposing of medical waste.
- Maintain proficiency with department‑specific equipment, troubleshoot and report malfunctions.
- Facilitate transition of care to UCC/Hospital.
- Book and schedule inpatient, outpatient, and special procedures.
- Arrange specialty equipment and services as needed.
- Interact with outside vendors and contracted services.
- Submit necessary documents for hospital and patient procedures.
- Collect pre‑admission testing data and verify insurance pre‑certification requirements.
- Reschedule and cancel procedures as required.
- Log surgical procedures as needed.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with physicians and nursing staff.
- Perform other job duties as required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required). Medical Assistant Certification required.
- Heart Saver Certification required.
- 2–4 years of experience preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem‑solving, critical thinking, and priority‑setting skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Hourly rate: $22.02 – $27.07
