Job OverviewIn support of the development of the Corporate Security Team as a service line and the Corporate Security mission “to compassionately protect and help the people, property, and quality of our health system, together”, the Executive Protection Specialist (EPS) will provide safe and efficient transport and protection services for senior leadership/management as requested. Transportation is provided to designated/requested locations avoiding any possible harm to the executive in the transfer process.
The EPS will also be responsible for law enforcement liaison, special event security, and physical security responsibilities as needed and will be armed.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least ten years prior law enforcement, military service, or professional executive protection.
- Valid New Jersey Driver’s License and eligibility for RWJBH insurance coverage. Out-of-state licenses must be transferred to New Jersey within 60 days of hire.
- Valid Retired Police Officer permit to carry a firearm in accordance with New Jersey Retired Law Enforcement Permit to Carry a Handgun Law (RPO).
- Valid New Jersey Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) Level 2 Armed Security Officer license.
- New Jersey Permit to Carry a Handgun.
- Level III Retention Holster for approved handgun.
- Minimum five years prior law enforcement or military service experience.
- Must acquire de‑escalation training certification within 90 days of hire.
- One year of customer service, security experience, or prior military service.
- Keyboarding/data entry proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual language skills such as Spanish, Portuguese, or Polish (preferred but not required).
Full‑time schedule, evening shift.
Essential Functions- Conduct patrols and monitor facilities to maintain a secure environment for healthcare operations.
- Transport executives and approved passengers to corporate facilities, affiliate facilities, and special events.
- Maintain interpersonal skills to exchange information with senior executives and greet passengers.
- Employ highly technical driving skills, knowledge of executive protection, driving regulations, and basic automobile mechanics.
- Partner with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
- Prioritize executive requests and delegate other duties as appropriate.
- Make decisions and plan strategically with critical thinking capabilities.
- Maintain personal and professional integrity and compassion.
- Exercise judgment in high‑profile situations.
- Demonstrate excellent physical fitness, vision, hearing, peripheral vision, and mobility for defensive driving.
- Maintain first aid, CPR, AED, and de‑escalation training certifications.
- Provide professional customer service while monitoring for potential security threats.
- Manage access control systems, perform data entry, and use Microsoft Office for incident reporting and administrative tasks.
- Communicate with a diverse population using strong interpersonal skills.
- Comply with all applicable federal and state firearm laws and NJS.A. codes.
- Identify and avoid hazardous or life‑threatening situations, providing cover and escorting executives and passengers to safety.
- Plan routes, implement diversion plans, and maintain an identification code system for emergencies.
- Conduct pre‑trip security checks of venues visited by corporate executives.
- Maintain confidentiality of executive personal information, schedule updates, and contact details.
- Follow company safety procedures, use company vehicles appropriately, and record mileage.
- Oversee appearance and operation of company vehicles and schedule maintenance.
- Attend defensive driver training annually and respond to emergencies, including crisis de‑escalation.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
