Position Overview
We are seeking a discrete, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to manage the day-to-day financial operations and reporting for a high-net-worth Single Family Office. This individual will be responsible for the full accounting cycle—from foundational bookkeeping and bill pay to the preparation of complex, consolidated financial statements. The ideal candidate thrives in a private, small-office environment and possesses the technical "engine" to manage multiple entities (LLCs, Trusts, and Foundations) with precision.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable & Bill Pay: Manage the full AP cycle for multiple entities and households, including vendor verification, coding, and ensuring timely payments.
General Ledger Management: Maintain the chart of accounts and perform all data entry for daily transactions across various investment and lifestyle entities.
Treasury & Cash Management: Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly. Monitor cash balances to ensure adequate liquidity for capital calls, household expenses, and planned distributions.
Intercompany Transactions: Manage complex intercompany transfers, reimbursements, and journal entries to ensure clean "due to/from" balances.
Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for individual family members and their related entities.
Consolidated Reporting: Assist in the consolidation of various asset classes (private equity, real estate, and marketable securities) into a holistic "Net Worth" report.
Variance Analysis: Provide monthly budget-vs-actual reporting for household and office expenses, offering clear explanations for significant deviations.
Audit & Tax Liaison: Organize work papers and serve as the primary point of contact for external CPA firms during annual tax preparation and any independent audits.
Tax Documentation: Track and organize K-1s, 1099s, and other tax-related documents.
Payroll: Oversee semi-monthly payroll for household staff and office employees, ensuring tax compliance across multiple states if applicable.
Record Keeping: Maintain a highly organized digital filing system for all legal documents, contracts, and financial records to ensure "audit-ready" status at all times.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
CPA or MBA is a strong plus.Experience: 2+ years of progressive accounting experience. Prior experience in a Family Office, Multi-Family Office, or Public Accounting (Private Client Services) is highly preferred.
Technical
Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Quick Books Online or specialized family office software (e.g., Sage Intacct, Addepar, or SEI Archway). Mastery of Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex financial modeling).Expertise: Deep understanding of GAAP and the ability to account for complex investments (Private Equity, Hedge Funds, and Real Estate).
Absolute Discretion: Proven ability to handle sensitive, highly confidential information with total integrity.
"Full-Charge" Mindset: Willingness to "roll up sleeves" for manual data entry while simultaneously maintaining the "big picture" of the family s wealth.
Analytical Precision: An obsession with accuracy; the ability to catch "the penny" in a multi-million dollar reconciliation.
Compensation: $85,000 per year
