A well-established single-family investment office is seeking an experienced Investment Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting, treasury, and reporting functions for a diverse portfolio of alternative investments and affiliated entities. The organization manages investments across private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, real estate, public markets, trusts, special purpose entities, and philanthropic vehicles.
Reporting directly to senior leadership, this position will lead the day-to-day investment accounting function while supervising a Staff Fund Accountant. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to influence processes, improve reporting, and help scale the finance infrastructure as the platform continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities Investment Accounting & Reporting- Oversee investment accounting activities across a complex portfolio of alternative investment structures.
- Review quarterly financial statements, NAV packages, capital account statements, valuation reports, and related investment reporting.
- Monitor capital calls, distributions, commitments, subscriptions, redemptions, transfers, and investment onboarding.
- Maintain investment schedules, reconcile investment activity, and ensure accurate accounting records.
- Assist with annual audits, tax reporting support, K-1 tracking, and year-end close activities.
- Prepare investment analyses and executive-level reporting for leadership.
- Manage daily cash positions across multiple legal entities.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts to support investment funding requirements.
- Coordinate wire activity, banking relationships, and intercompany cash movements.
- Oversee accounts payable operations, including vendor payments and invoice approvals.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external fund administrators, accounting vendors, auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, and banking partners.
- Review third-party deliverables for accuracy and timeliness.
- Coordinate investment documentation, onboarding activities, and service provider transitions when necessary.
- Monitor portfolio performance, valuations, and capital activity.
- Participate in investment manager meetings and summarize key developments for senior leadership.
- Support financial analysis and due diligence related to prospective investments.
- Develop and maintain scalable accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Identify process improvements and implement best practices across the investment accounting function.
- Produce accurate quarterly reporting, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses.
- Supervise and mentor a Staff Fund Accountant.
- Review work product, provide coaching, and support professional development.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training as the team expands.
- Promote a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment.
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Approximately 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant exposure to alternative investments, partnership accounting, or investment accounting.
- Prior experience managing private equity, hedge fund, venture capital, real estate, or other alternative investment structures.
- Previous supervisory experience with responsibility for reviewing work and developing staff.
- Strong understanding of partnership accounting, investment reporting, and financial statement review.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Experience with accounting platforms, investment reporting systems, and treasury management tools is preferred.
- Cash management, forecasting, and banking experience strongly preferred.
- Family office experience is a plus.
- Public accounting background and/or CPA designation are viewed favorably but are not required.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in the South Florida area.
