Cash Application Specialist

We are looking for a detail-oriented Cash Application Specialist to join a transport organization in Riviera Beach, Florida in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This role focuses on processing a high volume of incoming payments, applying cash accurately, and investigating account discrepancies with a strong sense of urgency. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with customers, managing transactional research, and using spreadsheets and financial systems to keep receivables current and records accurate.

Responsibilities:

• Apply a large volume of daily customer payments and port-related deposits to the correct accounts with accuracy and timeliness.
• Review remittance details, identify payment variances, and investigate exceptions to ensure account balances are properly updated.
• Contact customers directly to clarify short payments, unapplied cash, and other discrepancies affecting account resolution.
• Support accounts receivable activity by maintaining accurate records tied to billing, cash movement, and account status.
• Use Excel to track payment activity, reconcile open items, and organize research needed to resolve outstanding issues.
• Work within financial systems, including People Soft after training, to post transactions and maintain reliable documentation.
• Assist with commercial collections follow-up when payment issues require additional outreach or account review.
• Contribute to post-close cash application processing and related tasks needed to keep daily activity current.
