DESCRIPTION:
The duties and responsibilities of the Judicial Clerk I include performing a variety of specialized administrative, secretarial, and clerical tasks. Work involves displaying professionalism, initiative, organizational skills, and a strong work ethic. Frequent working contacts are made with judges, attorneys, unrepresented parties, and the general public. Work is often of a sensitive and confidential nature. Work requires independent judgment and is performed under the general supervision of a Judge of Compensation Claims.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule and calendar live, telephone, and zoom hearings and other JCC events.
- Review legal pleadings.
- Generate orders for JCC review.
- Generate notices of legal proceedings.
- Communicate with parties regarding scheduling, deficiencies in pleadings, and information requested by the JCC.
- Review exhibits to provide to the District Court of Appeal.
- Maintain a system to track and monitor deadlines.
- Generate reports regarding case and hearing information.
- Proofread evidentiary orders drafted by the JCC and suggest possible style or grammatical corrections.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs;
- Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment;
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and
- Ability to organize work and effectively manage one's time.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a legal setting is preferred.
- Strong communication, reading, writing, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail, reliability, and punctuality.
