Position Summary
The Program Director for the Associate of Science in Biomedical Engineering Technology (AS-BMET) serves as the on‑site program head responsible for the leadership, academic quality, operational management, and continuous improvement of the BMET program. The Program Director ensures that the program is delivered in full compliance with the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) Standards of Accreditation, applicable state and federal regulations, and HCI College’s institutional policies.
This is a full‑time, on‑site position responsible for administering all occupational components of the program, supervising faculty, engaging employer partners, and ensuring that graduates achieve the knowledge, technical skills, and professional competencies required for employment as entry‑level Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMETs).
This position satisfies ACCSC’s program‑head requirement for each distinct occupational area that leads to an academic degree, and supports ACCSC’s full‑time on‑site management and administrative capacity requirement.
Minimum Qualifications (ACCSC-Aligned) Education- An earned degree at least one academic level higher than the highest credential offered in the BMET program area — i.e., a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics/Electrical Engineering Technology, Clinical Engineering, or a closely related technical field. A master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Degree must be from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA); credentials will be verified consistent with ACCSC requirements.
- A minimum of four (4) years of related practical work experience in biomedical equipment technology, clinical engineering, healthcare technology management (HTM), or medical‑device service/manufacturing, consistent with ACCSC faculty qualifications for technical/occupational courses in an academic associate degree program.
- In exceptional cases, ACCSC permits substitution of a minimum of eight (8) years of outstanding practical experience and documented contributions to the field in lieu of a formal degree at the required level; such substitutions must be justified and documented on an individual basis.
- Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or equivalent AAMI certification.
- Additional relevant credentials such as CRES, CLES, CHTM, CompTIA A+/Network+, or manufacturer service certifications.
- Demonstrated ability to administer the occupational components of a technical degree program, including curriculum oversight, faculty supervision, laboratory operations, and employer/advisory‑board engagement.
- Full‑time, on‑site availability as required by ACCSC’s management and administrative capacity standards.
- Ability to teach in the program at the same academic level as the courses assigned.
- Satisfactory background check consistent with clinical and employer partnership requirements.
- Serve as the on‑site program head for the AS‑BMET program, providing day‑to‑day leadership for all occupational components.
- Ensure the program’s mission, educational objectives, program learning outcomes, and course‑level outcomes are current, published, and consistently implemented.
