Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the successful execution of construction projects in alignment with a strong culture of safety, quality, and client satisfaction. This role partners closely with Project Managers and regional leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with contractual and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in managing projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Prepare detailed project estimates, review specifications, drawings, and takeoffs
- Coordinate scheduling, engineering, materials, labor, and equipment resources
- Support supervision of total construction efforts to meet design, budget, and timeline objectives
- Lead cost analysis, budgeting, and risk assessments
- Manage change orders, extra work estimates, and contractual performance
- Serve as a liaison between clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and contractual regulations
- Provide technical guidance including interpretation of drawings and construction methods
- Participate in client meetings and maintain proactive communication throughout project lifecycle
- 4-year engineering degree or equivalent technical training and experience
- Minimum 5 years of construction management, estimating, or craft supervision experience
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, safety practices, scheduling, and contract administration
- Experience with federal, state, or municipal projects preferred
- Understanding of construction law and change order management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and advise project leadership
This is primarily a site-based role requiring regular field visits. Candidates must be comfortable working on active construction sites, wearing required PPE, and standing or walking for extended periods.
