. As a Pipe / Drainage Foreman
, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing pipe and storm drainage installation on civil construction projects, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and budget. This role provides leadership to the crew and coordinates closely with site supervisors, equipment operators, and other trades to maintain effective project execution.
- Supervise daily field activities related to storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water line installation.
- Interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure proper pipe placement and grade.
- Coordinate crew tasks and assign work to pipe layers, equipment operators, and laborers.
- Inspect materials, equipment, and work for compliance with specifications and safety standards.
- Maintain productivity while prioritizing jobsite safety and environmental compliance.
- Communicate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors as needed.
- Maintain accurate records, including daily reports, quantities installed, and field changes.
- Monitor equipment and schedule maintenance when needed.
- Train and mentor crew members, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
- Directly supervises 3–10 employees in the drainage crew.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training employees, planning and assigning work, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in underground utility or pipe installation, including at least 1 year in a leadership/supervisory role.
- Knowledge of storm drain, sewer, and water main installation methods, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and laser levels.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical training in construction or civil engineering preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
- Requires the following motions: climbing, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, pushing, pulling, twisting, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting and reaching. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
