Field Manager/Superintendent – Golf Course Construction & Large Tree Installation (Field-Based Position)
A 3rd-generation premier South Florida nursery and tree farm is looking for a Field Manager/Superintendent to lead large tree relocation and installation across golf course renovations, new construction, and high-end development projects throughout South Florida. This will be the Owner's #2 person!
Experience in golf course construction and/or commercial landscape business required. Projects span from Stuart south on the east coast and Sarasota to Naples on the west coast with required travel between multiple jobsites.
Take ownership of multiple projects from the initial site walk through final installation while staying ahead of fast-moving golf course renovations and changing field conditions.
Responsibilities- Manage crews, equipment, trucking, subcontractors, and client relationships simultaneously.
- Evaluate access roads, staging areas, grades, slopes, soft ground, drainage, hazards, and equipment routes before relocation begins.
- Coordinate tree installation around active grading, irrigation, drainage, utilities, etc.
- Confirm tree locations as construction progresses and identify field conflicts before relocation day.
- Stay ahead of access, grade, sequencing, and trade coordination issues before they become costly delays.
- Coordinate the three-phase root pruning process so crews, equipment, and sites are relocation ready.
- Liaison to owners' representatives, golf course superintendents, architects, developers, site contractors, and irrigation contractors.
- Track field changes, delays, additional equipment needs, and change order opportunities in real time.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in golf course construction or renovation, landscape construction, sitework, irrigation, tree relocation/installation, agronomy, or related field construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, grading plans, site plans, and tree inventories.
- Knowledge of South Florida tree species, palms, soils, and landscape installation practices is a plus!
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; clean background check.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
- CDL, ISA Certified Arborist, GCSAA, OSHA, or heavy equipment certifications are a plus.
- Salary: $110-160K + bonus
