Overview

Greywood Consulting is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Interior Space Planner to support space planning and interior layout initiatives across Palm Beach County facilities. This subcontract position works closely with a Senior Space Planner and provides technical and administrative support in the planning, analysis, and documentation of interior spaces to ensure functional, efficient, and compliant work environments.

The ideal candidate is an early-career professional with strong AutoCAD drafting skills, knowledge of construction documentation, and the ability to assist with concept plan development, renovations, and space utilization planning in a public-sector environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Senior Space Planner with interior space planning, space utilization studies, and layout development for County facilities
  • Prepare and update space plans, test fits, furniture layouts, and occupancy plans under direction
  • Develop concept plans and assist in integrating multiple floor plans into cohesive master documents
  • Support data collection related to space inventories, staff counts, and departmental requirements
  • Prepare and maintain accurate AutoCAD drawings, including floor plans and space standards documentation
  • Coordinate with FD&O staff, architects, engineers, consultants, and departmental stakeholders as needed
  • Maintain space planning databases, project records, and documentation files
  • Participate in site visits to evaluate and document existing physical conditions, including field measurements
  • Ensure plans align with County standards, applicable building codes, ADA requirements, and space guidelines
  • Perform general administrative and project support tasks related to space planning activities
Qualifications
  • Education — Associate’s degree in Drafting, Architecture, Engineering Technology
    , or a related field required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
Experience
  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional experience in AutoCAD drafting
  • Experience supporting construction, renovation, or architectural projects
  • Demonstrated experience in concept plan development and combining multiple floor plans into master documents
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (latest versions preferred), including:
    • 2D drafting and modeling
    • Layering standards
    • Annotation and documentation tools
  • Familiarity with building codes and standards, including ADA and International Building Code (IBC)
  • Knowledge of construction documentation practices and space planning workflows
  • Experience managing digital and physical project records, including:
    • DWG and PDF file formats
    • Version control
    • Archiving and documentation organization
  • Experienced in conducting site evaluations to measure and document existing physical conditions
Soft Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and record-management abilities
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with architects, engineers, and project managers
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in a professional office setting
Other Requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
    , especially Excel for record tracking and space data management
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs for handling and organizing physical records
  • Valid driver’s license may be required for site visits to County facilities
Work Conditions
  • Primarily on-site work at Palm Beach County FD&O offices
  • Standard business hours, with occasional field/site visits
  • This position is a subcontractor role and does not include County employee benefits
