This role is not about teaching. It is about motivation. When a student reaches 99% of their goal, the most supportive response is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that expectation makes you uneasy, this role is not for you. If it energizes you—because you understand that maintaining high standards is how you demonstrate belief in a student's potential—then continue reading.

At Alpha, academic learning occurs through AI-powered applications. There are no lectures or textbooks. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering topics such as public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback. Around 30% involves sitting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress via Coachbot analytics, and guiding them toward their weekly app objectives. The remaining 10% is dedicated to data analysis that informs your coaching strategy for the week ahead.

You will not follow a rigid script; workshops serve as frameworks, and top performers customize them and create new content when needed.

Success in a semester is defined by three metrics: at least 90% of your cohort achieving their weekly app goals, demonstrable life-skill improvement measured by Test2

Pass, and an average satisfaction rating of 4/5 or higher. Falling short on any of these three is falling short on the role. As you demonstrate your ability to uphold expectations, advancement opportunities open—first to Lead Guide, where you mentor newer Guides while managing a cohort, and eventually to Campus Lead, overseeing an entire school and managing parent engagement.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts covering public speaking, focus, feedback exchange, and other foundational competencies, modifying the existing framework and creating new sessions when you identify unmet needs
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions that drive every student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your personal rapport with each student to overcome disengagement
  • Administering Test2

    Pass (Alpha's mastery-based life-skills assessment) and providing continued coaching to students until they achieve passing results
  • Tailoring your coaching approach across a broad developmental spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring energetic, movement-based engagement to 8th graders needing candid conversations and clear accountability
  • Analyzing weekly cohort performance data within Coachbot, pinpointing students falling behind, and recalibrating your coaching methods for the upcoming week based on data insights
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Delivering whiteboard instruction; academic content is embedded in the apps, not delivered by you
  • Creating a curriculum entirely from scratch; you begin with an established playbook and infuse it with your personality and narrative skills
  • Passively monitoring students on computers; motivation in this context is hands-on, individualized, and sustained
  • Working through layers of administrative approval to secure support for students in need; when a student requires additional coaching, you decide and act immediately
  • Grading assignments, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent outreach;
    Campus Leads manage parent communication, and the other tasks do not exist in this model

Student Success Coach Key Responsibilities
Ensure that every student in your K-8 cohort achieves their weekly learning targets, demonstrates mastery of each life skill, and finishes the year expressing genuine appreciation for your guidance.

Basic Requirements
  • Willing to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Beverly Hills, CA;
