JobPurpose
As an ESOL Teacher, you will support the school’s instructional program by identifying students of limited English proficiency, planning an appropriate developmental program for them, and implementing instruction in accordance with state law and CSUSA curriculum.
How You Will Impact Education Diagnostic Evaluation- Identify students as Limited English Proficient (LEP) in accordance with state law and CSUSA policy through evaluation of test and observational data, consultation with staff, review of registration forms, and recommendations from personnel.
- Use appropriate standardized test instruments, informal diagnostic tasks, and observations to assess each student’s level of English proficiency.
- Develop an instructional program that increases acquisition of oral and written communication skills.
- Select appropriate instructional materials and media to achieve program goals.
- Grouper students for instruction in cooperation with the principal, considering each student’s proficiency level.
- Prepare class materials and demonstrate preparation upon request by supervisors.
- Participate with staff in curriculum planning during designated meetings.
- Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities needed for effective instruction.
- Meet with and instruct students according to established schedules.
- Employ instructional media and techniques appropriate for developing oral and written skills in English.
- Assess, on a regular basis, the extent of students’ English proficiency gains.
- Strive to maximize each student’s educational achievement.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by CSUSA policy and state regulations.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Implement all relevant policies governing student conduct.
- Develop reasonable classroom rules in accordance with district policy, maintaining order fairly and justly.
- Maintain confidentiality about students.
- Establish cooperative relations with parents/guardians, communicating as required by state law and CSUSA policy.
- Collaborate professionally with administrators and staff.
- Attend parent communication activities such as Back‑to‑School Night and conferences.
- Inform parents of placement in the ESOL program in accordance with state law and CSUSA procedures.
- Provide progress reports to classroom teachers and parents as required.
- Communicate with teachers regarding objectives and materials for each student.
- Offer appropriate consultation and training to staff about the cultural background of LEP pupils.

- Strong time‑management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize wisely.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents, community members, and administrative staff.

- Proactive initiative and creative thinking to drive projects to completion, insisting on the highest quality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Student Information System (SIS).
- Strong student orientation and commitment to company values.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent.
- Valid teaching eligibility in ESOL.
