Job Focus

This is not a teaching position. Your job is motivation.

The most powerful support you can offer a student who reached 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that approach feels uncomfortable, this role is not for you. If it energizes you—because maintaining high standards is how you demonstrate belief in a student's potential—continue reading.

At Alpha, academic content is delivered through AI-powered applications. No traditional lectures. No textbooks. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one‑hour life‑skills workshops covering public speaking, focus, and the art of giving and receiving constructive feedback. Around 30% of your time involves individual or small‑group sessions where you analyze student progress via Coachbot analytics and drive each learner toward their weekly application goals.

The remaining 10% is dedicated to data analysis that informs your coaching strategy for the week ahead. You will not be reading from a script; workshops provide a foundation, and the most effective coaches in this role customize them and create new content when needed.

Key Performance Goals

A successful semester means at least 90% of your cohort achieves their weekly app targets, demonstrates measurable improvement in life skills on Test2

Pass, and rates their experience with you at 4/5 or higher. Falling short on any of these three metrics means the role has not been fulfilled. Once you demonstrate the ability to maintain these standards, advancement opportunities emerge:
Lead Guide—mentoring newer Guides while continuing to lead a cohort—and eventually Campus Lead, where you oversee an entire school and manage parent engagement.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Facilitating one‑hour life‑skills workshops for K‑8 cohorts covering public speaking, focus, feedback exchange, and other transferable skills, customizing the existing framework and creating new sessions when you identify a need.
  • Conducting daily individual and small‑group motivation sessions designed to drive every student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha’s incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your personal connection with each student to overcome resistance.
  • Administering Test2

    Pass (Alpha’s mastery‑based life‑skills assessment) and coaching students who do not achieve passing scores until they succeed.
  • Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high energy and physical activity to 8th graders needing direct conversation and accountability.
  • Analyzing weekly cohort performance metrics in Coachbot, pinpointing students falling behind, and modifying your coaching tactics for the upcoming week based on data insights.
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Delivering traditional whiteboard instruction; academic teaching is embedded in the applications, not your role.
  • Creating an entire curriculum from scratch; you begin with an established playbook and personalize it with your energy and narrative approach.
  • Passively monitoring students on computers; motivation in this model is active, individualized, and persistent.
  • Working through bureaucratic channels to secure support for struggling students; when a student needs additional coaching time, you decide and implement immediately.
  • Grading assignments, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent communications;
    Campus Leads manage parent interactions, and the other tasks do not exist in this model.
Basic Requirements
  • Willing to work on‑site at an Alpha campus in Beverly Hills, CA;
