Position Summary:

The College Art Ambassadors report to the Director of Community Access Programs. They work with museum staff, teaching artists, and the Learning and Community Engagement audiences, including visitors from the Community Access Program. College Art Ambassadors meet bi-weekly to discuss various topics related to art and community. They also assist in leading museum tours, art activities in the community, Art After Dark:
College Night, and help publish the Palm Zine:
College Students’ Perspective on Art + Community.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assist with leading tours and art activities for the Community Access Program (CAP) groups at the museum and off-site in community settings.

Represent the museum’s program offerings at internal and community-facing events as needed.

Complete bi-weekly assignments, including readings, written reflections, object research, art-making demonstrations, and oral presentations.

Prepare classroom materials for all programs.

Set up and clean up classrooms and workshop spaces before and after art activities.

Aid in maintaining art supply inventory.

Assist with creating and scheduling content for social media, highlighting College Art Ambassadors’ work.

Participate in workshops led by teaching artists on the design and development of the Palm Zine, including the use of digital cameras, InDesign, and Lightroom software.

Collaborate with Art After Dark coordinator to plan and lead activities and promote College Night at the Norton during Art After Dark.

Assist in data collection and dissemination of program surveys.

Support all other Learning and Community Engagement Department programs as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a college or university.

Demonstrated interest in art education, museums, or community-based programs.

Strong communication skills (verbal and written).Reliable, organized, and collaborative.

Bring a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a willingness to collaborate with co-workers and participants.

Show initiative, reliability, and a commitment to learning and growing in a museum  open to feedback and actively engage in group discussions, workshops, and public  flexible and adaptable in dynamic, creative work  willing to learn new software and creative tools (InDesign, Lightroom, digital cameras).Commute to the museum and offsite program locations.

Have access to a laptop for assignments and meetings.

Work as a team to support the other College Art Ambassadors and LCE  authorized to work in the United States and be able to pass a background check.

Having prior experience in arts, education, or public engagement is a plus but not  bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Haitian Creole (preferred, not required).All College Art Ambassadors must have reliable transportation to and from the museum and offsite locations

Hours and Compensation:

Term:
Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 (October 6th, 2026 - March 26th, 2027)
Monday - Friday, variable schedule; bi-weekly Friday meetings required
