Position: Senior Plumbing Engineer (PE Preferred)

Schedule: In-Office Monday–Thursday 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Remote Friday Halfdays 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Position Overview

JLRD is seeking a Senior Plumbing Engineer to support plumbing system design and construction administration for Education, Government & Public Institutions, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Transportation & Aviation Infrastructure, Industrial, Utilities & Infrastructure, Hospitality, Leisure & Destination Properties, Commercial & Mixed-Use, and Residential Facilities.

This role is suited for an experienced engineer who brings strong technical judgment, coordination skills, and the ability to support projects from design through construction.

The position is based in-office at JLRD’s West Palm Beach headquarters and works closely with multidisciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and document plumbing systems, including but not limited to:
    Sanitary and waste systems, Domestic water systems, Storm, Acid Waste, Natural & LP Gases, Compressed Air, Vacuum, Medical gas systems (as applicable)
  • Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, and calculations
  • Participate in project planning, system selection, and design completion
  • Coordinate plumbing designs with mechanical, electrical, fire protection, architectural, and structural disciplines
  • Support permitting and agency review processes
  • Provide construction administration support, including:
    Shop drawing and submittal review, RFI responses, Field observations, Evaluation of Change Orders
  • Apply professional judgment in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers as appropriate
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (Florida or ability to obtain)
  • Extensive experience designing plumbing systems for Education, Government & Public Institutions, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Transportation & Aviation Infrastructure, Industrial, Utilities & Infrastructure, Hospitality, Leisure & Destination Properties, Commercial & Mixed-Use, and Residential Facilities.
  • Working knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and standards
  • Experience with medical gas systems is strongly preferred
  • Strong coordination, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, in-office environment
