Overview
Substation Engineers (Electrical Engineers) – GFT
GFT is seeking experienced Substation Engineers to join our expanding Power Group. The role is fully remote.
Our team is focused on delivering solutions for power transmission, distribution, and renewable energy, utilizing advanced technologies to enhance system reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
Responsibilities- Lead or support utility and power substation projects and clients.
- Support or lead various substation projects from 34.5 kV up through 500 kV.
- Build effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders in the Power & Utility industry.
- Develop substation layout drawings including plans and elevations, yard layouts, grounding details, raceway details, control building layouts, cable lists, and material lists for new and existing substations.
- Develop substation one-line, three-line, Aux AC Power Systems, DC Power Systems, DC Schematics, SCADA and Communications Systems, Relay Panel Layouts, Equipment Wiring, and Cable Schedules for new and existing substations.
- Prepare calculations and reports presenting calculations to clients.
- Prepare equipment specifications for substation equipment and components.
- Pursue regional and national power substation projects to increase Gannett Fleming presence in power delivery.
- Develop and nurture client relationships and collaborate across disciplines.
- Prepare proposals, bids, reports, and presentations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license or on the path to obtaining licensure.
- 3+ years progressive experience in design, engineering, and project management within the power and utility industry.
- Experience in consulting engineering profession.
- Demonstrated ability with project management software (Microsoft Project or similar) for scope, schedule, and budget management.
- Design experience in high voltage substation and distribution projects.
- Evidence of creating quality technical solutions and design delivery of major power delivery commitments.
- Strong business performance, continuous improvement, and best practices orientation.
- Advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Micro Station, or Inventor.
Salary range: $77,000 – $155,000, dependent on experience and geographic location.
