GEI is seeking a Project Geotechnical Engineer to join our talented and highly motivated geotechnical team supporting the Florida region and our growing practice in West Palm Beach. This role offers the opportunity to work on geotechnical, geostructural, and construction oversight projects in Florida, throughout GEI’s South Region, and, when needed, nationwide.
The successful candidate will work alongside senior leadership to advance project development, drive technical excellence, and lead project management efforts. You’ll serve as a trusted technical resource, build and strengthen client relationships, contribute technical expertise on projects, and play a key role in shaping winning multidisciplinary proposals and contributing to diverse project teams.
GEI’s West Palm Beach office and other South Region locations support a broad portfolio of geotechnical engineering services and project types across a variety of challenging geologic environments. Our geotechnical project capabilities include:
- Subsurface exploration and site characterization
- Geophysical site investigations
- Building and bridge foundation design and value engineering services
- Retaining wall and bulkhead wall design
- MSE wall design
- Ground improvement analysis and design
- Landslide and levee assessment
- Slope stability analysis
- Instrumentation and monitoring
- Construction quality assurance and related non-destructive evaluation and testing services

Responsibilities- Exemplify commitment to technical excellence to meet client expectations and achieve client satisfaction, and profitable project execution. Serve as a technical leader, project manager, and mentor.
- Manage project performance in the areas of growth, operations, and administration to ensure project achieves company goals.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities that instill confidence with clients, subconsultants/vendors, and employees.
- Plan, organize, and manage the work at the job site location to ensure the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational expectations and requirements.
- Support proposal efforts and presentations; maintain visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact and excellent client service; engage with client- and industry-based professional organizations; and make presentations at industry events.
- Provide guidance to team members and monitors their performance, discipline, and attendance as defined by GEI policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary project teams and nationwide company offices at client/project locations.
- Help to grow GEI’s geotechnical practice () by providing excellent service to existing clients (both internal and external) and helping to develop new clients through industry associations and events.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related fields required; a master’s degree is preferred but not required.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Florida. Licensure in additional states is a plus (e.g., TX, GA, AL, MS, SC, NC, VA).
- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
- 8+ years of industry experience, including project and client management roles.
- Experience working with State and Federal clients, as well as commercial clients/owners and contractors.
