Senior Professional Engineer

Palm Beach County is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer to work in a wide variety of engineering projects within the Zoning Section of the Land Development Division. Responsible for overseeing the review of Planning and Zoning applications from an engineering standpoint. Reviews site plans, subdivision plans, master plans, and associated engineering documents to ensure compliance with Palm Beach County's Unified Land Development Code (ULDC) and engineering standards, predominantly Palm Beach County (PBC), South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

Work is very complex and requires independent judgment and decision-making, which directly affects all aspects of construction projects and impacts funding. Assignments are based on program objectives. Review of work is based on the accomplishment of projects with emphasis on quality of technical submissions, adherence to deadlines, and team effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field; minimum of five years (5) years of experience in professional engineering or related engineering work, including one (1) year in the supervisory aspects of the work,

OR

• A Related Master's Degree; minimum of four (4) years of experience in professional engineering or related engineering work, including one (1) year in the supervisory aspects of the work.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Qualified candidates must:

• Be licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida (FL) OR licensed as a P.E. in another state and ability to obtain State of FL P.E. licensure within 11 months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include:

• Civil engineering and land development experience,

• Site plan, platting, construction plan, and drainage review experience,

• Experience in stormwater drainage system design.
