Structural Engineer, Aerospace / Aviation / Avionics, Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Join our cutting-edge propulsion structures team where you'll perform critical structural analysis on air-breathing ramjet and scramjet propulsion systems for next-generation hypersonic missiles and aircraft. As a Structural Engineering Specialist, you'll work at the forefront of aerospace technology, solving complex thermal-structural challenges in extreme operating environments while collaborating with a team of world‑class engineers and scientists. Located in Jupiter, FL, our facility offers a 9/80 work schedule for optimal work‑life balance, state‑of‑the‑art analysis tools, and the opportunity to directly impact national defense capabilities.
EssentialFunctions
- Perform structural analysis and design of ramjet and scramjet propulsion system components including combustors, inlets, nozzles, and airframe integration structures
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) for static, dynamic, thermal, and coupled thermo‑mechanical loading conditions using industry‑standard software tools
- Evaluate structural integrity under extreme thermal environments, high‑speed aerodynamic loads, and vibration/acoustic loading conditions
- Generate structural analysis reports, design recommendations, and technical documentation to support design reviews and customer deliverables
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including aerodynamics, thermal, materials, and test engineers to develop integrated propulsion system solutions
- Support hardware testing programs including test planning, instrumentation recommendations, data correlation, and model validation activities
- Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer presentations to communicate analysis results and recommendations
- Travel required approximately 10-15% for customer meetings, supplier visits, and test support activities
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior related experience performing structural analysis in aerospace, defense, or related industry; or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience; or in lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of experience
- Demonstrated experience with finite element analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran, or similar)
- Experience with structural analysis of metallic and/or composite aerospace structures
- Proficiency with CAD software and engineering analysis tools
- Active U.S. Secret or Top Secret security clearance (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with focus on structures, solid mechanics, or thermal‑structures (preferred)
- Direct experience with propulsion system structures, high‑temperature structures, or hypersonic vehicle structural analysis (preferred)
- Experience with thermal analysis, heat transfer modeling, and coupled thermal‑structural analysis in high‑temperature environments (preferred)
- Familiarity with composite materials analysis, damage tolerance, fracture mechanics, or fatigue analysis methodologies (preferred)
Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens. In addition, applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment may be subject to government security investigation(s) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
