Senior Bridge Engineer

In the role of Senior Bridge Engineer, we'll count on you to:
- Prepare bridge designs following FDOT PD&E process.
- Work on projects that typically include bridges (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, and moveable) box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects.
- Obtain your Florida Bridge Inspector team leader.
- Perform bridge inspections as FDOT bridge inspection leader.
- Work with Florida staff to establish a bridge inspection team to aid the national bridge inspection division.
- Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, develop structural details using specialized structural design and analysis software, and perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
- Review, assign work and/or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and EITs.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Building relationships with and delivering work for local clients.
- Assist Bridges and Structures Area Lead with the management of bridge engineers.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structures emphasis.
- Florida PE or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Florida DOT design experience.
- Experience working with FDOT and other DOT's.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-Multi Pier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP
2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, sp Column, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge. - Knowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bentley Open Bridge Designer and Open Bridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.
- Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software.
- Experience preparing project scope, fee, and schedule.
- Experience in project pursuits.
- Experience managing junior staff.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, AutoCAD and Micro Station.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design.
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example:
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. - Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software.
- Experience in design calculations and layouts.
- Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood.
- Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis.
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
