Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager – Solid Waste
SCS Engineers is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager to support and help lead its growing solid waste engineering practice in South Florida. This position offers the opportunity to manage technically challenging projects involving landfill design, landfill gas systems, solid waste infrastructure, composting facilities, permitting, construction, and operational support for municipal and private-sector clients.
Depending on experience, the selected professional may serve as a technical project engineer, project manager, client manager, and Engineer of Record. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced solid waste engineer who wants to combine technical design, project leadership, client interaction, staff development, and business growth within a nationally recognized environmental consulting firm.
The position may be based from SCS Engineers' West Palm Beach or Coconut Creek office under a hybrid work arrangement.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least eight years of relevant engineering or environmental consulting experience.
- Demonstrated experience within the solid waste industry.
- Active Florida Professional Engineer license, preferably in Civil Engineering, or the ability to obtain Florida reciprocity within six months.
- Ability to prepare and review technical calculations, drawings, reports, specifications, and permit applications.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and client-communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and commonly used environmental consulting software.
- Valid driver's license and driving record in good standing.
- Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork in varied terrain and weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Consulting experience serving municipal and private-sector solid waste clients.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects, budgets, schedules, and staff.
- Established relationships within the South Florida solid waste or environmental market.
- Knowledge of Florida solid waste permitting and regulatory requirements.
- Experience serving as Engineer of Record.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience preparing proposals and participating in client development.
- Familiarity with landfill gas, renewable natural gas, methane-emissions reduction, composting, or other climate-related infrastructure.
