Harris Missile Solutions Missile Propulsion sector is seeking an experienced Control Systems Analysis Engineer to join our Systems Engineering organization at the West Palm Beach, FL campus. This engineer would report to the Senior Manager of Modeling Simulation and Controls (MSC) located in WPB.

The Control Systems Engineer will work with fellow engineers within MSC to conduct cycle and engine matching analyses to analyze engine data to develop an understanding of component level performance of advanced air-breathing propulsion systems, design and test control logic software, perform integration into Software-in-the-Loop (SWIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) simulation environments, design and develop test stand software and hardware, and support test planning and execution on high speed air-breathing propulsion systems.

The engineer will perform these analyses for both steady-state and transient engine operating modes.

Essential Functions:
  • Dynamic modeling and simulation, control algorithm design and development of control logic for air-breathing propulsion systems.
  • Actuation system (including valves) and turbo pump modeling and analysis.
  • Steady state and transient performance modeling and analysis.
  • Modeling and analysis in Matlab/Simulink and C/C++.
  • Support development of rocket propulsion hardware and software requirements, including coordination of derivation of internal requirements allocation.
  • Support propulsion system testing, including test plan and test procedure development, pre-test predictions, integration of electronic test support equipment, and development of test-related software.
  • Propulsion development activities include contributing technical analyses to anomaly investigation and resolution teams. As required, provide on-site customer technical support for engine ground test coverage and analyses, and system flight test activities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in control systems design, analysis, and test.
  • Active DOD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Additional

Skills:
  • Masters Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, Sim Scape, Lab View, Veristand, Python, and C/C++.
  • Proficiency in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
  • Experience with NPSS propulsion model development and control system intergration
  • Experience with engine control system design, test, and analysis.
