We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Fund Accountant to join our investment management team. This role is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting for various investment funds, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of financial data. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in fund accounting, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel. This position requires leadership in managing complex fund operations and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end fund accounting processes, including journal entries, cash management, and investor allocations.
- Calculate and review Net Asset Value (NAV) for funds, ensuring precision and adherence to deadlines.
- Perform detailed reconciliations of fund accounts, including investments, capital accounts, and fee structures.
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements, investor reports, and performance metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Use Microsoft Excel for advanced data analysis, forecasting, and reporting (e.g., complex formulas, pivot tables, and scenario modeling).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., SEC, IRS) and accounting frameworks (GAAP, IFRS).
- Coordinate with external auditors, administrators, and custodians to facilitate audits and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor fund expenses, management fees, carried interest, and distribution waterfalls.
- Lead process improvements, including automation and system enhancements, to increase efficiency.
- Mentor junior fund accountants, providing guidance on technical accounting and industry practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CFA, or equivalent certification preferred.
- 5+ years of fund accounting experience in hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, or similar investment vehicles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with fund accounting platforms (e.g., SS&C Geneva, Yardi, or Allvue).
- In-depth knowledge of fund structures, valuation methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
