Description
POSITION SUMMARYThe Corporate Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing general accounting functions for the Cancer Center of South Florida entities. This role includes treasury management, monthly reconciliations, performing month-end and year-end close procedures, and preparing detailed financial reports, including projections and variance analyses. The Corporate Accountant ensures compliance with all financial regulations and contributes to the overall financial health of the organization.
COREESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements) in compliance with GAAP.
- Generate internal financial reports to support decision-making and performance analysis.
- Oversee the general ledger, ensuring proper classification of transactions, account reconciliations, and error resolution.
- Assist Controller and Chief Financial Officer in preparing budgets, monitor performance, and provide financial analysis to identify cost efficiencies and performance improvements.
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations and collaborating with external professionals for tax planning.
- Implement internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., SOX, company policies).
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections, and maintaining liquidity.
- Maintain banking and lending relationships and set up new accounts as needed.
- Coordinate with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and addressing audit findings to improve processes.
- Assist with payroll processing and contribute to special financial projects as needed, such as mergers, system upgrades, compliance initiatives or process efficiencies.
- Completion of ad-hoc reports as requested.
- Additional duties to be assigned from time to time.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- At least 3 years progressive professional experience in an accounting role.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with Quick Books Accounting software preferred.
- Experience with financial reporting.
- Excellent communication skills, analytical skills and attention to detail required.
- Strong business acumen, action oriented, assertive and confident.
