The Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s Office is seeking an Auditor & Investigator Associate II for the Inspector General division. The incumbent will provide professional auditing and investigative services for an assigned department, assisting on audits and investigations to evaluate policy effectiveness, compliance with laws and regulations, and to investigate fraud, waste, abuse, unethical conduct, and mismanagement. Employees in this classification document and analyze information, evaluate activities, and summarize results in reports.
EssentialFunctions
- Assist or lead audits, investigations, and other reviews in accordance with Global Internal Audit Standards and the Principles and Standards for Offices of Inspector General.
- Execute audit and investigative procedures, including developing objectives and work programs, identifying key risks, determining adequacy of internal controls, and evaluating compliance with policies, laws, regulations, and good business practices.
- Perform interviews, collect and analyze relevant information, and conclude on results and conditions.
- Assist or lead investigations and reviews involving fraud, waste, abuse, ethical misconduct, and mismanagement.
- Help manage the intake process of investigations, collect and review correspondence and related information, update case‑tracking reports, conduct fact‑finding research, and analyze complaint data to support investigations.
- Identify areas of weakness or noncompliance; prepare audit and investigative findings and recommendations; present findings to management for corrective action, and assist in preparing reports and following up with stakeholders to support closure.
- Apply current audit and investigative professional standards and management principles to a large, complex governmental organization and evaluate compliance with requirements.
- Travel to all Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller office locations as required.
- Apply computer applications and software in executing responsibilities.
- Maintain comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and stay informed on trends in governmental auditing and investigative practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Four (4) years of recent and relevant experience in auditing or investigative work; alternatively, four (4) years of experience can replace a bachelor’s degree, and two (2) years can replace an associate’s degree.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Professional certification preferred:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Inspector General Auditor (CIGA), Certified Inspector General Investigator (CIGI), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP).
