A high school diploma or its equivalent and nine (9) years of professional experience in environmental protection, regulation or health; one of the physical or natural sciences, agriculture, or engineering can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education;

or

A high school diploma or its equivalent and five (5) years of experience as a managerial, policy-making, administrator coordinating the planning administration, data analysis and research activities of an environmental related program, three (3) years of which must have been at the supervisory level;

or

A high school diploma or its equivalent and four (4) years of combined experience as an Environmental Specialist I or higher with the State of Florida;

or

A bachelor's degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the physical or natural sciences, agriculture, or engineering and five (5) years of professional experience in environmental protection, regulation or health; one of the physical or natural sciences, agriculture, or engineering;

or

A master's degree (6 years) from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the physical or natural sciences, agriculture, or engineering and four (4) years of professional experience as described above;

or

A doctorate (8 years) from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the physical or natural sciences agriculture, or engineering and two (2) years of professional experience as described above.

Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license.

Graduates utilizing education attained in the United States to meet the minimum requirements of a position will not be appointed until verification of the applicable degree has been obtained. Foreign trained graduates utilizing a degree attained outside of the United States to meet the minimum requirements of a position must be prepared to provide a copy of a credential evaluation conducted by an Approved Credential Evaluation Agency.
