Job Requirements:

Assumes responsibility and accountability for providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment of performance components affecting cognition, swallowing, speech, language, reading and overall function. Provides goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum independence for clients with disability, disease or injury. Develops and administers medically prescribed speech therapy programs to restore function and prevent disability. Directs and supervises interns, externs, and clinical fellows. Recognizes signs and symptoms of stroke and initiates stroke alert procedures as appropriate.

Verbalizes the stroke alert process. Conducts consults and reassessments within 24 hours of admission or when feasible after patient is medically stable. Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the annual 4 hours online training.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Graduate School of Speech & Language with a Master of Arts or Master of Science in Speech and Language with Certificate of Clinical Competency.
• Must be licensed in the state of Florida.
• Must have BLS certification through AHA.
