This position is ON-SITE.
Responsibilities- Verify insurance payment accuracy and compliance with contract and customary charges
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims in a timely manner from insurance companies and patients
- Analyze denials to determine root cause and take corrective action.
- Track appeal outcomes and elevate unresolved issues as appropriate.
- Institute patient payment plans and complete collections
- Demonstrate knowledge of third-party payers’ EOBs and understand specific time limitations for appeals for all served lines of business.
- Maintain accurate and detailed notes of payer communications and claim activity in the billing system.
- Monitor aging accounts receivable and prioritize follow-up based on payer timelines and facility goals.
- Ensure compliance with payer requirements related to medical necessity, length of stay, and level of care.
- 2+ years of experience with mental health and/or substance use collections
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in medical billing or related field preferred
- Experience with Collaborate
MD billing software - Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in collections process
- Excellent communication skills to interact with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to pass a level 2 background check: HB531 | Florida Agency for Health Care Administration
