Overview
As a member of the Corporate Human Resources Team, this position contributes energy and organization to oversee compensation projects and ongoing initiatives for Florida Crystals Corporation and American Sugar Refining, Inc. to ensure their timely and accurate completion. The role supports the integration of processes and procedures and is accountable for improving and monitoring processes to maximize strategic value. The individual must understand the company’s strategic compensation needs and plan requirements to provide solutions that support global initiatives.
This position works closely with the Corporate Compensation Manager to influence HR leaders, executives and team members across multiple departments and collaborates with vendors to deliver results. The role combines tactical operational execution with compensation support for key HR initiatives. Success is demonstrated by delivering clear value to the business and supporting stakeholders in achieving strategic objectives.
DetailedRoles & Responsibilities
- Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures; recommends plan revisions and new plans that are cost effective and aligned with compensation trends and corporate objectives. Coordinates implementation and provides guidance to HR and business leaders.
- Works with other Total Rewards team members to identify opportunities to integrate work processes and the department.
- Provides advice to leaders and HR staff on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation and job evaluation, including design of creative solutions for compensation-related programs.
- Manages the administration of direct compensation (exempt and nonexempt cash programs), including creating and presenting recommendations for equity adjustments, market alignment, restructuring and reorganizations, and the processing, recording and reporting of related actions.
- Supports the configuration and testing of the Success Factors Compensation and Performance Management Modules and their ongoing use.
- Participates in exempt and nonexempt salary surveys to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved.
- Keeps informed of federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure compliance and oversees ongoing FLSA reviews.
- Collaborates with the Benefits team to ensure programs support the total reward philosophy and provides support to other total rewards initiatives and projects as needed.
- Partners with leadership and HR Business Partners to ensure successful adoption of new compensation processes, and is responsible for communication and training as needed.
- Performs regular compensation data audits to ensure data accuracy.
- Oversees the administration of 401(k) programs and supports various benefits initiatives as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Management or related discipline from an accredited university
- 5–10 years of progressively responsible compensation experience.
- Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to compensation base and incentive programs, company policies and operations, with detailed knowledge of FLSA regulations.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience using an HRIS system, preferably SAP HR/HCM, and ability to develop and analyze reports and queries.
- Experience writing reports and presentations, including creation through analysis to all levels of the company.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience with benchmarking and market pricing jobs, including the completion of salary surveys.
- Knowledge and experience with creating and presenting recommendations for equity adjustments, market alignment, restructuring and reorganizations.
- Preferred certification as a Certified Compensation Professional through Worldat Work, or actively working to attain certification.
- Professional training and experience with SAP HR/HCM and Success Factors modules.
- Process improvement and related process mapping skills.
