Florida Crystals is a fully integrated cane sugar company that regeneratively farms sugarcane and rice in South Florida, owns two sugar mills, a sugar refinery, a packaging and distribution center, Florida's only rice mill, a compost facility, and one of the largest renewable power plants in the U.S., powered by sugarcane fiber.
OverviewThis Director of PMO role requires a leader with solid knowledge of project management to maximize business value and ensure ROI for the IT portfolio in alignment with business strategy. The Director will partner with IT and other functional leaders to manage business goals, priorities, challenges, and process improvements; drive alignment of programs and projects with business strategy; define PMO methodology;
and oversee his own project portfolio along with a team of project managers.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the IT Strategic Supplier & Portfolio Lead to manage the portfolio dashboard for the CIO and IT/business leadership to ensure alignment and visibility.
- Drive investment optimization and select the best initiatives to maximize business value and ROI:
- Develop and manage a comprehensive project portfolio, budgets, resource allocations, and costs with overall accountability for portfolio performance and key metrics.
- Work with Release Management to coordinate and synchronize with release strategy.
- Work with project delivery & service management teams on resourcing strategies for projects to ensure optimum support for day‑to‑day operations.
- Collaborate with Finance and functional leaders to develop and manage project and program budgeting and cost estimation.
- Prioritize programs and projects based on changing functional needs, resource capacity, risk exposure, and interdependencies.
- Responsible for bringing IT strategy to life through the execution of the IT portfolio:
- Create integrated program roadmaps, ensure interdependencies are clearly identified, manage and assist in timely resolution of interdependency conflicts.
- Apply risk management assessment in project planning/execution and resolve issues and conflicts associated with multiple high‑priority projects; collaborate with Release Management.
- Manage a portfolio of project and program management services (prioritization, analysis, execution, delivery) for the enterprise.
- Lead the PMO playbook of best practices, techniques, and tools for project planning, execution, milestone/deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics.
- Lead the governance of the overall IT portfolio:
- Establish metrics, measurement, reporting & review forums to provide visibility and intervention when needed to ensure performance meets end objectives.
- Prepare and deliver regular, effective communications to leadership and project sponsors on project statuses, successes, risks, and issues.
- Provide weekly PMO reports, scorecards, and dashboards to IT leadership and key stakeholders.
- Project Management:
- Lead a team of project managers.
- Lead projects or programs.
- Ensure proper financial management of projects as reported by project managers.
- Proven interpersonal collaborative skills: two‑way communication skills, ability to build relationships, influence others, and communicate PMO concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work across organizational and functional boundaries to achieve company goals.
- Ability to handle multiple demands, shifting priorities, and ambiguous situations; exhibit excellent analytical skills and manage multiple projects under strict timelines.
- Demonstrated track record in developing portfolio processes, business process management, establishing governance structures, and executing programs that meet excellence objectives.
- Sense of urgency in understanding outstanding or critical issues and driving resolution.
- Fosters collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams in an international environment.
- Experience in cross‑functional stakeholder relationships in technology, finance, and operational business.
