Assistant Track Inspector at Brightline Trains
Essential Functions Maintenance Operations- Perform maintenance operations including, but not limited to, regular track maintenance, track inspection, landscaping, brush cutting, painting, pressure washing, window washing, and fence repairs.
- Assist in establishing on‑track protection within assigned areas according to the company’s operating rules and federal law.
- Complete minor construction projects including stations and facility repairs, corridor civil improvements, and railroad grade crossing repairs.
- Safely operate motorized equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, pressure washers, and drills; maintain tools and equipment in good condition.
- Transport, load, and unload material and equipment.
- Work safely and adhere to applicable railroad rules and regulations; report hazards or injuries and take immediate corrective action.
- Collaborate with other maintenance technicians to perform quality work efficiently.
- Assist in conducting safety meetings and training sessions for railroad teammates on proper procedures of working around active tracks.
- Respond to third‑party incidents and severe weather events and lead infrastructure clean‑up activities.
- Follow manager’s instructions to execute and delegate the planned work.
- Perform additional construction and maintenance support duties as required.
- Monitor all Brightline communication channels, including the company intranet and bConnected, during work hours to ensure all communications and notifications are promptly reviewed.

- High School Diploma or GED required; some college or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance, construction, or railroad industries required; experience operating light‑duty construction equipment highly desired.
- Qualified to inspect, maintain, and restore track under CFR 49 Part 213 Subpart A-F.
- General knowledge of construction and maintenance fields, including landscaping, facility operations, civil repairs, painting, basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
- Experience working around railroads or railroad operations and familiarity with Federal Railroad Administration safety rules and regulations preferred.
- Knowledgeable about railway systems, track structures, and maintenance procedures.
- Skilled in operating motorized equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, pressure washers, and drills.
- Proficient in construction and maintenance fields, including landscaping, facility operations, civil repairs, painting, basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
- Strong focus on safety and attention to detail to consistently deliver high‑quality work.
- Well‑versed in safety protocols and regulations related to maintenance operations; wear personal protective equipment when required.
- Effective communicator, adept at establishing rapport across all organizational levels, fostering productive relationships crucial for operational success.
- Must be willing to work any shift or on weekends and holidays based on operational needs.
- Good physical condition to handle demands of the job, including working in various weather conditions and performing manual tasks; capable of operating heavy machinery, lift, climb, push, pull, and bend for extended periods, frequently lifting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
- Effective in working with other maintenance technicians and following managerial instructions.
Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration; occasional exposure to a variety of extreme conditions; noise level can be loud.
Physical DemandsRegular use of hands, fingers, and arms; frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally more than 100 pounds; specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and adjustment of focus. Objects weighing 70 pounds or more must be accompanied by a second individual to avoid injury.
